Yao Zhe is Strategic Communications Program Director at iGDP. She has over eight years of experience in communication and policy analysis around issues of public interest. Prior to iGDP, she led the strategic climate communications team at China Dialogue. She has also worked for the International Energy Agency, Save the Children and Sohu News Center.

Zhe’s expertise lies in the intersection of communications, climate solutions and politics. She has been an advisor on communication strategies for numerous projects and organizations and writes frequently for media platforms on energy transition and climate diplomacy.

Zhe had been involved in several projects at iGDP including the Survey on Public Awareness of Low-Carbon Development (2018), What to Expect in China’s Second NDC (2019) and Motivating Low-carbon Lifestyles: Cases and Recommendations (2022).

Zhe holds a bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Tsinghua University. She was a “France Excellence” scholarship winner and earned her Master’s in International Development from Sciences Po Paris.
