It synthesizes historical trends, existing mitigation policies, and future projections, finding that non CO\u2082 emissions have been rising and will continue to do so without stronger action. Through scenario modeling, the brief demonstrates that enhanced mitigation efforts can achieve earlier peaking and deeper reductions, but significant emissions will remain by 2050. Under an ambitious Deep Decarbonization Scenario, China&#039;s N\u2082O emissions could fall by 73% by 2050 (or 51% under a more moderate New Policies Scenario), with the industrial sector delivering the largest share of reductions. Under the new policies scenario, industry could cut N\u2082O emissions by about 177 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO\u2082e) by 2035 \u2014 76% of China&#039;s total \u2014 rising to roughly 211 million tonnes by 2050.
