The conference was organized by the Systems Engineering Committee of the China Energy Research Society and co-organized by the Institute for Global Decarbonization Progress (iGDP), the Secretariat of the Green and Low-carbon Development Think Tank Partnership (GDTP), Guangdong Low Carbon Development Promotion Association, and Guangzhou Institute of Energy Conversion, Chinese Academy of Sciences.

GDTP 2023 Annual Conference

 

The GDTP 2023 Annual Conference, themed “Local Carbon Peaking and Carbon Neutrality: Deepening and Breakthroughs,” was successfully held in Guangzhou from March 24 to 25, 2023. 

 

The conference featured online opening remarks delivered by Li Gao, Director-General of the Department of Climate Change of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, and Hong Jianwu, Director of the Climate and Exchange Division of the Department of Ecology and Environment of Guangdong Province. The conference also brought together more than 40 experts, including Zhou Dadi, Member of the National Expert Committee on Climate Change; Zhang Xiliang, Director of the Institute for Energy, Environment and Economy at Tsinghua University; Zou Ji, Chief Executive Officer and President of the Energy Foundation China; and Ma Aimin, Deputy Director of the National Center for Climate Change Strategy and International Cooperation, who delivered speeches and participated in discussions. 

 

Guests from Beijing, Guangdong, Chongqing, Hainan, Jiangxi, Shandong, Shanxi, Shanghai, Tianjin and Zhejiang shared their experiences based on local practices. More than 100 experts and scholars from these regions, as well as Yunnan, Inner Mongolia, Guangxi and other areas, attended the conference. Participants gathered to explore new pathways for advancing local carbon peaking and carbon neutrality efforts.

 

The conference was organized by the Systems Engineering Committee of the China Energy Research Society and co-organized by the Institute for Global Decarbonization Progress (iGDP), the Secretariat of the Green and Low-carbon Development Think Tank Partnership (GDTP), Guangdong Low Carbon Development Promotion Association, and Guangzhou Institute of Energy Conversion, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The conference received strong support from the Collaborative Innovation Institute for Carbon Neutrality and Green Development of Guangdong University of Technology, the Institute for Low-carbon and Sustainable Development Studies of Jinan University, the Institute of Energy Research of Jiangxi Academy of Sciences, Jiangxi Carbon Neutrality Research Center, Shandong Research Center for Ecological Civilization, Carbon Neutrality Research Institute of Tianjin University of Science and Technology, and Zhejiang Economic Information Center.
