Consultant on Subnational Low-carbon Transition

JOB DESCRIPTION

iGDP is seeking a part-time consultant (can be full-time), with flexible working location but preferably in the physical area of responsibility, to provide expert advice on low-carbon transformation projects carried out by the institute in Chinese provinces and cities, and lead or assist with related project planning, promotion and implementation. The consultant will report to iGDP’s  local project director.  

Implementation and monitoring

  • Participate in the development of work plans
  • Coordinate internal and external resources, promote the implementation of work plans, exercise overall control of implementation progress, and make timely adjustments
  • Track and collect information and provide analysis and evaluation of low-carbon transformation progress in relevant provinces and cities
  • Write relevant research reports and policy analyses
  • Carry out external communication on the project on behalf of iGDP, organize seminars, exchanges, training and other activities

Quality and impact

  • Check and ensure the research quality and professionalism of the project, as well as the quality and form of the results
  • Assist the team to illuminate the core content of projects and research results, and respond promptly to industry trends
  • Provide advice on improving the impact of relevant projects
  • Represent the organization at professional conferences and accept media interviews

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and experience

  • Master’s or doctoral degree in a related field, with more than 8 to 10 years of working experience in provincial and municipal low-carbon planning, carbon markets, local low-carbon transformation, green economy or other related fields
  • A track record of research, project implementation or policy advocacy achievements

Capabilities and qualities

  • Comprehensive research project planning, organization and execution capabilities
  • Excellent communication skills, collaborative spirit and project execution ability
  • Basic ability to communicate in English at work
